Supernova Cafe - Tanjong Katong
It has been awhile since I had last written here. But the latest stir along this sleepy Tanjong Katong stretch (lest for the perpetual Ponggol Nasi Lemak queues, and the dwindling Eng's rivalry) is the opening of Supernova. A new addition to the string of successful cafes Atlas, Neptune and Apollo. The cafe has already started gathering queues as most of the key bloggers have already lent their pen in support. For now you may find the owner-barista Daphne Goh busy behind the counter preparing your drink.
The place actually first caught my attention in the evenings as the place glowed orange in a cozy almost colonial vibe. I'd be eager to try how this cafe transforms into a restaurant-bar at night...
The Steak Hash (26.9) features a 180g of steak with crispy roasted potatoes which went very well together with caramelised shallots and garlic. A "green sauce" tangy and hollandaise-like added some depth together with sprigs of Kale. I opted for Scrambled Eggs (+1) instead of the usual 2 Sunnies. Highly recommended. Would have loved to try the Fried Chicken French Toast next though, it was sold out that day.
The Bacon & Pumpkin Rigatoni (21.0) had juicy and flavourful thick cut bacon which i prefer over streaky over cooked ones. The pumpkin sauce was light and not overly creamy or heavy. Not sure if the baguette was in the right place though... After all the carbs from the pasta.
The Blueberry Tart (8.0) is certainly a must have... in fact this was the last piece. A well crusted crumble with sugared blueberries was definitely the right way to end a brunch.
