Un-Yang Kor Dai Isaan Thai Cuisine

This unassuming hole in a wall, almost unnoticeable restaurant along a busy South Canal road has been making headlines with raving reviews. True enough, this Isaan style Thai establishment did not disappoint.

Tom Yum Kung Num Sai 18.9
The prawns were huge and fresh. And the soup had a proper kick. It was so yummy and addictive.

Red Curry with Grilled Chicken 16.5
I seldom see Red Curry on the menu in Singapore Thai restaurants. Not quite the Red Duck Curry I had in Phuket, but very tasty. But using a grilled whole chicken lent it a very organic honest taste to the dish - very "Isan". The tomatoes and lychees surprisingly went very well together creating a fresh and savoury taste.

Spicy Stir Fried Sliced Grouper (500g) with Thai Herbs 35
I had actually wanted to order a steamed fish, and was almost disappointed until we had it. It seems as though the fish was craved up and deep fried separately from its skeleton. But it was perfectly cooked, still juicy and tender.

Scotched Eggs with Tamarind Sauce 12.5
I wasn't quite a fan of this dish, perhaps because it was just fried hardboiled eggs without much of a batter. The exterior was dry and hard.

Thai Milk Tea Pudding 5.5
This dessert is a must try. What could be better than eating your favourite milk tea in a smooth pudding.
