Afandi Hawa and Family - Mee Rebus

Its been a cold start to 2021, and what better way to kick off the chilly weekend morning with a hearty bowl of Mee Rebus and Mee Soto! Here at Haig Road market, the legendary Afandi Hawa stall serves a mean bowl of Mee Rebus. 

The Sweet Potato blend is smooth and balanced in consistency - catered for a complementary bite of Bergedil (Fried Potato Balls). With al dente yellow noodles (hence I prefer not to takeaway) twisted round your fork, soaking up all the sauce. If you like a bit more heat, a spoonful of their chilli is highly recommended. 

The Mee Soto is my personal favourite. A savoury Chicken broth best served piping hot - it gets too salty when cooled. Adding the chilli and fried shallots brings it to a level of Umami. I don't like chicken breast, but these shreds were tender.
