New Ubin Set Lunch by Chope

Chope had published a set lunch deal of $25 per pax at New Ubin Chijmes. You get to choose one main, one vegetable, and a dessert. The Curry Fish Head is the Nonya type, and thick in coconut milk and a medium spice level. 

The Fish Roe with Sambal Chinchalok & Petai Beans ($16) was lovely. I didn’t know such a combination would be so complementary. The fried fish roe soaked the Sambal well. The contrast with the Petai beans was complex but strangely enjoyable. 

The Brinjal Delight ($15) was interesting. Thinly sliced Brinjal caramelised and stir fried with dried chilli and a tangy sauce.

I’ve never heard of Green Dragon Vegetables ($12) until now. Also known as Royal Chives, this was a very light a tasty dish. A tad oily from the Pork Lard oil but fragrant nonetheless.
