New Rong Liang Ge Roast Duck
This place has a perpetual queue... I was there at 4pm on Saturday and there were 8 people in front of me. They serve a range of dishes, from Roast Duck Roast Pork and Char Siew, to Double Boiled Soups. But everyone is ordering the Roast Pork and Char Siew mixed rice.
I attacked the rice first. It was grainy and fragrant, possibly too dry for some. I loved it with the dark sauce they douse over - a bitter sweet blackened sauce I suspect to be from the marinade of the Char Siew - a strong roasted garlic flavour.
The Char Siew with that flavour on the charr, is the right balance. Not too sweet like most, causing it to taste unnatural. The meat is lean and juicy. However, the Roast Pork is soooo fatty but firm. Delicious!
The chilli is on point, similar to the one at 88 Roast. Blended with fried Ikan Billis and fermented bean paste.
