Jimoto Ya - Prawn (Ebi) Ramen

Tucked into the corner of China Square below the overhead bridge connecting Hong Lim, its entrance looks like a fine dining Japanese restaurant. You enter and find an unassuming eatery with a bar counter and some 10 tables and a private room.

Eager to try all variants of Ramen, when I heard of this Prawn Ramen, we jumped at it. It is almost like eating a brothy Prawn Noodles Soup with the same flavours from its shells and roe. The Ramen eggs were flavoured and well prepared.

Then it got weird... This is mind blowing... but there is NO prawns! Instead, to appease the $17 you paid, they toss in some minced pork. If that didn't confuse you enough, they add cabbage into Ramen, which I felt did nothing to complement this bowl.

The gyoza is good if that is any consolation.
