Jalan Besar "Famous" Yun Tun Mee @ Loyang Way

A usual haunt for the officers from Changi Airbase, this industrial canteen is home to the many Aviation and Engineering factories in the vicinity. Stalls like the Pig Trotters and the Roti Prata are some of the favourites. And there is the wanton mee... 

Their thicker noodles are the typical "koo kee" style, firm and fuller. The Char Siew is probably bought, otherwise it is pretty average and sweet. The wrapped wantons with slightly salted minced pork, are the old school kind. 

But its the sauce! A soya sauce base, with chilli and "he bi" shrimps, and a splash of garlic! The garlic simply brings out a new depth to wanton mee flavours. If you are in the area, you should give this a try...
