Little Island Brewery - Changi Village
The trend of hiding little cafes in obscure places throughout Singapore has invaded even the Microbreweries! Serving my military obligations, we chanced upon a rare gem. This place is tucked behind the famous market known for its Nasi Lemak. More will know this place as the old Tekong Seafood Restaurant, which is still there but simply reduced its tenancy by half.
Opened by 4 partners and run by Francis, this place is a high ceiling, open spaced, self service smokehouse and microbrewery. Amidst the space, be mesmerised by its intricate nicks and little design ideas that litters the place.
A new concept of a self service brewery, you purchase a prepaid card, and just like a petrol pump you pay what you pull! Great for those who do not drink much but would like to taste the beers and stout. This means its cheap as well! $2 to $2.40 per 100ml means $10 per pint! The Pale Ale is simply refreshing, end with the Stout for a good manly punch in the gut.
I thought I would just be drawn by the deco and the beers, but.... The Food! Oh my...
Most of their mains are smoked, either with Apple or Lychee woods. Imagine an aged steak or a crispy Pork Belly over that smoke. Simply must try!
