Epicurean Market 2015

Waku Ghin's Marinated Botan Shrimp with Oscietra Caviar (and Sea Urchin)

At $25, it was a steal for the common folk to experience such lush and rich cuisine. All the flavours were bursting in my mouth and overwhelming me with food emotions.

Waku Ghin's Toro Tuna Set on Preserved Lemon Rice with Fresh Wasabi from Shizuoka ($16).
This fatty portion of a very fresh and exquisite Tuna, does not have any fishy taste. Simply melts in your mouth! Chef Tetsuya prides himself very much on using the best ingredients - half the war is done.

Sky on 57's Daily Special - Braised Dorper Lamb Ribs with Asian Spice, Dried Fruit-Nut, Turmeric Couscous ($16)

The lamb was well cooked, soft and flavourful. However, this may be Chef Justin Quek's deconstruction of the local Nasi Briyani with the Turmeric and the Fruit-Nut. It just did not feel like it fit in the whole vibe of Epicurean and MBS.

Bread Street Kitchen's Dingley Dell Pork Belly Sliders, Grain Mustard Slaw ($12)

The idea of a Pork Belly Burger was legend, the taste was good with the pork and the slaw. However, the Pork Belly was so hard, I might have broken my tooth biting into it.

Bread Street Kitchen's Traditional Fish & Chips, Crushed Peas, Tartar Sauce ($14)

So you would think that this is the pièce de résistance of Chef Gordon, and at $14 for a small fist-sized battered fish, this is really sub-standard! The fish had no texture or firmness and crumbled, the batter was flat and tasteless.

Daniel Boulud's Lobsters Roll ($25)

This is one of the best lobster rolls I've tasted. The exquisite Boston Lobster chunks was simply amazing. Sweet from the Freshness with a tinge of Saltiness from the tastes of the ocean.

Daniel Boulud's Raw Oysters ($25)

They featured Oysters from three different regions: Malpeque Bay, Prince Edward Island; Wellfleet; Katama Bay.

Cut's Indie Spiced Wagyu Short Ribs ($26 per pair)

Yet another dish that seems to be deconstructing a local dish. This indie-spiced tastes like a sweet rendang. But tastes well prepared.
