Luke's Oyster Bar & Chop House

Hidden in a corner of Robinson's new location at the Heeren, this is Luke's second outlet. It was almost like walking through the wardrobe into Narnia. Behind the inconspicuous black doors lies a small opulent space modelled like San Francisco in the 30s.

For starters, the LOBSTER MAC & CHEESE with Ritz cracker crumbs ($26), caught my eye. And for right reasons too. This blew me away! I could simply have this as a main and be contented for the day. The Macaroni was cooked al dente was some bite, whilst the cheese was not too thick nor overpowering. The saltiness of the cheese blends amazingly well with the brine tastes of the lobster - divine... The rare touch of Ritz biscuits and spring onions were mere perfections to texture and fragrance respectively.

To be labelled a Main and to be costing this price, the JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES maryland style, grain mustard & coleslaw ($47) could be a miss. It was nothing to shout nor brag about...

The N.Z JOHN DORY olive oil, lemon & thick cut tomato salad ($65) was grilled and seasoned well but like the Crab Cakes, wasn't something I'd jump around for, especially for such a price tag...

Don't be shocked, what you see in the picture below is only half of the actual serving. This piece of fine meat is more than what it seems... It is not jut a steak, it has been marinated to actually taste a little like Char Siew! The "Luau" style caramelizes the meat in the same way. An interesting piece, worth the order. USDA PRIME RIBEYE "NAKED" OR "LUAU" STYLE 400gr. confit garlic ($90)

The other half that I had tried was the MILK-FED DUTCH VEAL CHOP anchovy marmite butter ($75). This is simply out of this world! Veal that doesn't taste like Veal, and Meat that melts in your mouth like Butter! It looks raw and cold on the inside but it's not that bad, and nicely grilled on the outside. A must order when you are here.

DOUBLE FUDGE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE peanut butter ice cream ($16)

LUKE’S COCONUT CAKE ($16)
