Restoran Pekin - JB

On our way down from KL, we decided to stop by JB for an early dinner. I was brought to this place, a one storey compound sitting new and lavish on its own amidst old shophouses typical of JB... It has enough parking spaces for 500cars, 4 separate banquet halls, and outdoor sitting area that is inside!

Our first dish was the tofu, made in house they claimed. It was nice but nothing fantastic...

Then the killer signature dish was brought out... I would have fought to the death for this dish. They called it "Indonesian Curry Prawns". The Prawns were the large Tiger Prawns, juicy springy and very fresh. But the curry i could not stop dipping! It went perfectly with rice, but i kept having the curry alone, just to see if i can identify which ingredient or how it is done that makes it so different and insanely good...

The Peking Duck, we had to try, given the namesake of the restaurant. But it was not something to jump around about... It was juicy and tender, but a tad dry. The pieces of duck that came wrapped were sliced too thick, almost in chunks...

Now this dish is exquisite... Something that i can never replicate in my kitchen.
I could not understand at first, why would someone dry out a huge piece of Cod... Till i took a bite. It was cripsy on the outside, definitely due to the High heat of the Chinese Stoves, yet the inside was still very moist and juicy - coupled with a light soya sauce drizzle. Heavenly...

Yet all these dishes would have been very expensive if we were to order them in Singapore, lest in such a Fine Dining setting. But the bill for these dishes and Stir-fried Greens and Desserts, for 4 pax came up to RM220!
