Beurre SG - Local Fusion

I had always wanted to come here after looking at their pretty Instagram photos, more so of their lunch offering as FatBowls. The place, across from Humpback, is a narrow 20-30 seater. The service is humble and very efficient, both the manager and the friendly waitress were attentive and helpful (even with our Instagram requests). We were more surprised that the amazing food was prepared by a young local chef - Darwin, who came out to check if everything was satisfactory and to explain how he wanted to do fusion without being too over the top.

Overall, definitely a place to return to, affordable quality food with lovely service.

The highlight of the night was the "Stuffed Black Chicken" $38. Stuffed with Glutinous Rice and Foie Gras, baked and smoked, was such a treat! It had the black chicken flavour we are so used to, with the glutinous rice liken a Loh Mai Kai, then hit with a Foie Gras and Truffle luxury.

The 10 day aged Wagyu $68 was simple but fired over binchotan with such a smokey flavour, and to a melty perfectly medium rare.

The Whole Octopus Leg $28 was cooked well, tender inside and a slight char outside. Topped off with Chorizo and sautéed Chickpeas, dotted with Garlic Aioli and Herb Oil.

Of the small plates, we were recommended the Cauliflower $14 and the Black Truffle Escargots $18, and everyone were having the happy hour Oysters at $2 each, but they didn't make the selection.

The Yuzu Clams Veloute $9 were pretty good though with an innovative Shaoxing foam.

The Garlic Aligot $9 was something new to me, how they mixed Mashed (yukon gold) Potato with Cheese! The thick consistency made it goey to consume though.

The Forest Mushrooms $7 was probably the only dish that I felt was okay... It was a great mix of the nicest mushrooms though - morels, porcini, chanterelles, king oyster and shimejis.

The Cod Cups $16 was a great twist to a Kueh Pie Tee, with Cod tartare topped with Ikura.
