新源记 Xin Yuan Ji - Fish Soup and Tze Char
Even at 3pm in the afternoon, there is a queue outside their outlet! A mix between locals and tourists, many seem to flock here for their Curry Fish Head. But we weren't very hungry yet and they ran out of the $7 Lunchtime set - next time then.
The other signature dish here seems to be the Fish Soup. The soup is light, and not very tasty... But no hint of MSG. We figured why it is so popular the moment we chewed on the Fish slice... Firm and Spring! Fresh. I could eat this all day. If you do not have much of an appetite or wish to have something light yet fulfilling, come here.
I had the "Sheng Mian", Deep Fried Egg Noodles with Seafood over Gravy. The gravy is very fragrant with good Wok Hei and generous serving of eggs and garlic. The Seafood is as expected, Fresh, Prawns Fish and Squid.
I had thought it would be interesting to try Vegetables stir fried with Fermented Tofu. This "You Mai Cai", is what we know as Romaine Lettuce. However... it turned out to be extremely extremely salty! We had to wash it in the bland soup that we had...
