Brand New Korean Dining Concept. Captain K Seafood Tower @ Princep St

I had seen an ad posted on my Facebook feed for this new Korean dining concept brought to us by young entrepreneurs Vincent Goh and Chef Benson Tong. I had tried calling for a reservation via the telephone but it was constantly busy. Until i had met Vincent, I finally knew why... 8 days into their opening and they are fully booked out till April! Thank goodness they were swift in replying via email that they only take private and corporate events via but promised someone would call me back. Immediately i received a SMS to confirm my reservation. Impressive.

This concept begins with a multi-tiered seafood tower, with layers depending on group size. The seafood offering obviously becomes better with tiers. My advice is bring more people! Go for the 9 tiers, where you will have a lobster! The seafood is freshly prepared in view of you, so expect a 20min wait for your food.

Interestingly they even have a pictorial guide, on the menu and on the wall, as to which sauces goes best with which tier of seafood!

I believe for the seafood, there needs no introduction or explanation. They are fresh, steamed and sweet! It is so good that I joked that, we even forgot to take a photo of the Prawns! For 4 pax, we took the 5 tiers which included Oysters, Baby Abalones, Scallops, Clams, Prawns, and Crayfish.

When I arrived here, i had only assumed that this is merely a seafood tower... till we were asked to choose a soup base. Apparently like a Mookata, the sweetness from steaming seafood drips all the way down into a soup base. And when you are done with the tiers, you will be enjoying a Steamboat with the sweetest soup you ever tasted! Vincent recommends the Kombu Dashi, a seaweed base rather than the Kimchi base, so that the sweetest of the seafood can fully be appreciated.

Based on the colours of the plates, you simply choose and add accordingly to your steamboat experience. They range from your usual noodles, fishballs and crab meats, to your tofu and meat cuts.
