Tanuki Raw - Wagyu Don
When it first opened, Howard's command of the social circle and its correspondent media proved its prowess. Every few posts on Facebook would either be an ad from Tanuki Raw or a friend checking in to this place.
I could not ignore this place, not with pictures of rice bowls like that. I took a chance to squeeze in lunch since my tailor is round the corner. This place does not draw in much walk in traffic given its location on the 2nd floor of Orchard Central (though it is right beside the escalator).
As with all the pictures and adverts, it had to be this, the "Truffle Yakiniku" Rice Bowl $18, that I had to order. Essentially a Rice Bowl topped with delicately Pan Seared Thinly Sliced Australian Beef that only melts in your mouth but bursts with flavours bitter sweet from the soya and charring, tenderness and juiciness from the bloodiness of a good beef.
I thought there wouldn't be enough slices of beef to get me to the bottom of this rice bowl. But the portions were surprisingly much. It also comes with a bowl of miso soup and a salad.
