Kay Lee Roasts - Suntec [CLOSED]
They used to command long queues at their stalls every day. There was almost a cult following of their roast duck and that special braised sauce. But when they decided to sell their recipe, many food enthusiasts knew exactly where this was headed...

When the listed company Aztech bought over this recipe, to some it seemed like a resurrection of the dead it seems. Coming to this Suntec outlet, it appeared to me like it was more like the undead... The place at lunch had two occupied tables, probably because of the same reason why we were there - the Affordable Art Fair.
I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was terribly disappointing! How can you expect the same quality of meats when they are now processed and mass produced in a factory in Senoko?!
The Char Siew was cold, and stiff and the meat dry and lifeless. The Pork Belly was firm on the fat layer and had its crispy skin but somewhat lacked that Character. The duck did not even have the standard of a factory canteen... Worst thing is, this plate costs $10.50!!!
The Fried Dumplings was perhaps slightly better maybe by the lack of expectations, but still take a look at the plate and tell me how appetising can this be? Or rather, for the price and the setup, wouldn't there be more of an effort in plating?
Definitely what I would term "Death by Franchise"...
